Robots Raced, Jumped, and Headed for the Theme Park in September
China Hosts the Second World Humanoid Robot Games
Beijing hosted the second World Humanoid Robot Games, where more than 2,000 robots representing companies from 16 countries competed over five days across 51 events such as sprinting, boxing, and soccer as well as real-world tasks like housework and emergency response. Standout feats, including a 100-meter sprint in 8.64 seconds (faster than Usain Bolt's 9.58-second human record) and a 2.88-meter standing high jump, show how fast the field is improving, even though the results came in tightly controlled conditions rather than the messier real world; Shanghai newcomer AGIBOT topped the medal table with 46 medals.
