Grounded Minds is a Connecticut nonprofit created to help communities understand the power, capabilities, and impact of artificial intelligence. Our work brings people together to explore how emerging technologies shape everyday life, from how we learn and communicate to how we stay informed, connected, and safe.
We focus on clarity, awareness, and real conversations. Through speaker sessions, practical resources, and community-centered programs, we help people of all ages build the understanding and confidence needed to navigate a fast-changing digital world.

The Grounded Minds Story
Grounded Minds began with a simple but urgent realization that artificial intelligence is advancing at a pace most people never see coming. The tools are powerful, accessible, and capable of creating voices, images, videos, and information that are increasingly difficult to distinguish from what is real.
At the same time, headline after headline revealed life-altering situations that could have been prevented or softened if communities had a clearer understanding of these technologies and how to navigate them responsibly. The gap between what the tools can do and what the public understands about them was growing wider by the day.
As a parent, leader, and educator working closely with organizations and schools through Grounded Logic, Mary McPheat saw this gap up close. Youth were experimenting with technologies they didn’t fully understand, adults were unaware of how powerful they had become, and caregivers and mentors were left reacting to situations they never saw coming.
Grounded Minds was created to bridge that divide. Not with fear. Not with technical jargon. But with clarity, conversation, and shared understanding.
Our goal is simply to give communities the knowledge and awareness they need to guide this technology responsibly and confidently together.
